Overview

From ancient dynasties to Marco Polo's journey down the Silk Road; from modern commercial centers to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, China is constantly changing.  From Hong Kong to Shanghai, you will see skyscrapers and businesses that boast of China's rapidly growing place in the global economy.  But historical roots run deep.  The Chinese will tell you that the future does not escape the past.  Risk your present reality.  Come explore China's past and help shape her future.

The China Studies Program (CSP), an interdisciplinary semester program, enables students to view China from the inside to experience its culture and diversities.  Students get to see for themselves the world's next great power, and make close friends with Chinese students.  The program is hosted by Xiamen University, a national "key university" located by the sea in sub-tropical southeastern China.

"Being in China really changed me. I'm a lot more aware of things that I didn't even know existed. I realized that I have a real passion for cultures and languages. It's to the point that living in different countries and learning different languages occupies most of my thoughts at school." -- Jay Meador, CSP Spring 2005, Spring Arbor University
